How to: Renew the application certificate
The certificate used for the application within the Microsoft tenant needs renewal before 21 December 2021. A valid certificate is required to make sure your backup jobs will continue to run. This is why you need to re-authenticate in the management portal to automatically install a new certificate.
Please follow the guide below – the update is easy to complete and only has a few steps:
- Go to management portal and go to the customer overview
- Click on the re-authenticate feature on the bottom right side
- Choose the first option “renew the certificate in the App Registration in your tenant"
- Follow the authentication steps with Microsoft

In the process of renewing the certificate, you’ll authenticate with Device Code, ensuring both backup and restore security and performance.
