Using Arrow Object Storage with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
Arrow Object Storage can be integrated with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to provide scalable, S3-compatible cloud storage for protecting Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams data. Key Requirements
- Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 version 5.0 or newer
- Arrow Object Storage S3 endpoint, access key, and secret key
- A dedicated S3 bucket created for Microsoft 365 backups
Configuration Overview
1. Add Arrow Object Storage as an Object Storage Repository
- In Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, navigate to Backup Infrastructure
- Choose “Object Storage Repository” and select “S3 Compatible”
- Enter the Arrow endpoint and credentials and define the bucket
2. Link to a Backup Repository
- Create or edit a backup repository and link it to the Arrow-based object storage
- Assign this repository to jobs targeting Microsoft 365 services
3. Enable Retention and Security Policies
- Configure retention settings appropriate to compliance needs
- Enable encryption for data in transit and optionally for data at rest
4. Monitor Jobs
- Track backup and restore activities through the console dashboard
- Use alerts and reports to ensure storage availability and job success
