Using Arrow Object Storage with Arcserve
Arrow Object Storage can be integrated with Arcserve backup solutions to provide a reliable and scalable S3-compatible target for long-term data retention and disaster recovery. This configuration supports offloading backup data from on-prem environments to a cloud-native architecture.
Key Requirements
- Arcserve Unified Data Protection (UDP) with S3-compatible storage support
- Arrow Object Storage endpoint URL, access key, and secret key
- A designated S3 bucket configured for Arcserve backups
Configuration Overview
1. Add Arrow Object Storage as a Cloud Target
- In the Arcserve UDP management console, configure a new cloud storage target
- Choose “S3 Compatible” as the type and input Arrow endpoint and credentials
2. Create and Assign Backup Plans
- Associate the cloud target with a backup plan or job
- Set backup schedules and retention rules based on organizational requirements
3. Ensure Security and Network Access
- Use HTTPS for secure data transfers
- Ensure outbound access to Arrow’s S3 endpoint is allowed from the Arcserve host
4. Monitor and Report
- Use Arcserve’s built-in tools to track job status, storage usage, and performance metrics
Benefits
- Reduces dependency on local storage infrastructure
- Enhances data durability and off-site protection
- Provides elastic scalability for evolving backup needs
